Alumni Of The Month

February 2019

Curtis Griffith
Class of 2013

I attended Ballico-Cressey from 2006-2013.  While attending Cressey, I played T-ball and I went on to play basketball for one year and baseball for two years at Ballico. I was also a member of 4H. Almost all of my teachers were my favorites.  From Cressey; Mrs. Naldi, Mrs. Magneson, Mrs. Zamora, Mrs. Mires, and Mrs. Molina where amazing. Mr. Ware was and will always be my favorite principal of Ballico and Cressey. Mr. and Mrs. Kubo were my favorite teachers from Ballico, as well as Mr. Martinez and Mrs. Rodriguez, who helped me get ahead in math and was just great. Mrs. Asai was and always is my favorite from Ballico as well. She was always so nice to me and was one of my greatest friends. Mr. Ballenger was a great principal to Ballico, he did so many great things and has gotten Ballico back on the map.  My mom, brothers and sisters have all gone and graduated from Ballico and Cressey. In 2018, I graduated from Livingston High School, and on January 4th, I donated my left lobe of my liver to a woman from Sanger. I was the one match out of 23,000 applicants.  To read more about this click here: Here you can read about our story on the url which includes her and her husbands Gofundme.   They really rely on this account finallcially so if you want to or can contribute any amount to her that would be amazing! Thank you!

Class of 1988

I attended Ballico Cressey from 1980-1988. I've lived in Cressey all my life, except the 4 years I served in the Navy from 92-96. I started working in the Almond fields in Ballico with my folks when I was just a little girl. I worked up until 2 years ago when my health conditions got worse, to where working makes it worse, so here I am fighting for Disability since Jan of 2016.  My daughters have also attended Ballico Cressey Schools.

Phyllis E (Braden) Lohman
Class of 1933

Phyllis E (Braden) Lohman attended Ballico Elementary School from 1925-1933.  Her brother took them to school in a cart pulled by a pony.  The pony grazed on the grass while they learned their ABCs.  Phyllis played volleyball and ran track while at Ballico.

After graduating from Livingston High School, Phyllis settled into the Ballico Community.  She married Jim Lohman where they farmed almonds and peaches for many years.  She gave birth to three children, Jerry, Janice, & Kathleen who all attended Ballico Elementary School.  She is the grandmother to 9 grandchildren (3 who attended Ballico Elementary School), 23 great grandchildren (4 who attended Ballico Elementary School), & 10 great, great grandchildren (with one more on the way).

Phyllis will turn 100 years old at the end of September and still resides on the farm that she and Jim bought many years ago.  Suffice it to say, she is probably the oldest living alumni of our lovely little school.

Samantha Wilson
Samantha Wilson
Class of 2005

My name is Samantha Wilson.  I graduated from Ballico in 2005 and went to Buhach Colony afterwards. I now live in Snelling with my four year old son Connor and I am finishing up my final bachelors degree in Human Resources. I currently serve as a Substitute Instructional Aide at MCOE with certifications in medical assisting, personal training, and nursing assistance. I am also a local photographer for the Central Valley. I think it’s wonderful that you are doing this on the website. I look forward to seeing how everyone has been doing!
